Non-PRO: Designed with the utmost in value engineering in mind. These models won’t achieve the same performance level of the PRO counterpart (if offered), but incredibly impressive performance for their price points, and especially in comparison with market alternatives.

PRO: Behind the similarity in driver size to the non-PRO counterpart, every aspect of a PRO model is different. This includes the woofer and tweeter drivers themselves. In addition, their motor designs and materials used throughout are computer simulation optimized for superior performance. Within the PRO PASSIVE models, the filter networks feature the highest-grade OFC copper air core or flat wound coils and high voltage audio film capacitors, some even silver. Even the enclosure designs and their internal damping materials are optimized for superior performance. All of these design and premium material advantages cost additional money which combined deliver superior performance beyond the reach of our non-PRO models and many alternatives in the market at even significant higher price points.

PRO BERYLLIUM (BE): Taking our PRO designs a step further. Although it is one of the most expensive materials used to make speaker diaphragms, in terms of stiffness-to-weight ratio, Beryllium is the highest of any known metal and can deliver dramatically superior results when properly incorporated into a speaker design. The speed of sound through Beryllium is nearly 2.5 times faster than the speed of sound through aluminum or titanium. This means the first breakup will occur at a much higher frequency—well outside the audible range. Breakup occurs when the cone partially vibrates at certain audible frequencies and therefore isn’t entirely pistonic throughout its range. This leads to non-linearities in the amplitude response as well as stored energy in the time domain. It is precisely these characteristics that give Beryllium speakers the ability to reproduce amazing detail and provide sound clarity with the absence of resonances.

This 15"point source axisymmetric speaker has been designed as screen speaker for large theaters as left, center and right speaker or can be used for very large theaters as a surround speaker.

ASCENDO was founded in 1999 by the three music enthusiasts Norbert Heinz, Stefan Köpf and Jürgen Scheuring in Stuttgart. ASCENDO GmbH matured into a technology company, focuses on the development of DSP, audio networking technology and audio measurement systems.
